Machaela Cavanaugh Welcomes New Baby

OMAHA, NE – Machaela Cavanaugh and her husband Nick Brotzel are delighted to announce the birth of their son, Barrett Lee Brotzel born on July 10, 2018 weighing in at 8 pounds 15 ounces.

Barrett joins his sisters Della 4 and Harriet 3.

Cavanaugh, a candidate for Legislature in District 6, says that the arrival of her third healthy child is both a blessing and a responsibility.

“Our beautiful baby Barrett is a reminder of the privilege that pervades our lives and a reminder of the responsibility I have to my community. If the voters choose to send me to the legislature, I will see it as my duty to fight to give every child born in Nebraska the same opportunities that Nick and I have provided Barrett and his sisters.”

Cavanaugh supports paid family leave for parents of newly born or adopted children, early childhood care and education, and the expansion of Medicaid in Nebraska at the forefront of her policy platform.

“Investing in our future by supporting quality health care, child care, and education for every Nebraskan from day one is not just the compassionate or ethical thing to do, it is also the economically and competitively advantageous path for our state.”

Cavanaugh’s contribution to improving the daily lives of Nebraskans began at a very early age. Much like the timely birth of Barrett has affirmed Machaela Cavanaugh’s own desire to look out for Nebraska’s future through her campaign for the legislature, Machaela’s own birth amidst her father’s tenure as a member of the United States Congress confirmed his commitment to cultivate a strong future for his constituents living in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District.

District 6 includes voters from Central and West-Central Omaha.
